My Fantasy Novel: Post 2

Greetings all,

It has been a while (a long while in fact) since I last updated you on the progress of my fantasy novel. Now, I must admit that it hasn’t been a very productive time, but it has been productive nonetheless.

For about a few weeks there was almost nothing going on with my writing, as you can find out here. However, there has been a resurgence of activity in my fantasy novel, and such, I have felt a new wave of passion for it.

I believe I am at about the 130-140,000 word count, which as I’m sure you may agree is incredibly long. I have surprised even myself for sticking with it for so long, considering how large it is. Perhaps, this has been one of the reasons that there was a lull in productivity regarding it. But that would be making excuses for myself and I don’t think it fair on the story itself to be blamed for such things.

Currently, I am trying to work my way back up to the rhythm of writing 1,500-2,000 words daily, and at the 1,000-1,500 mark. It will take a while, and I have recognised this, instead of putting unnecessary pressure on myself to reach the quota and risk sacrificing the quality of the work and my sanity, I am taking my time with it.

At the moment, my protagonist has just completed one of the key turning points in his journey and is faced with a decision: to go back home and forget about everything that he has been through or continue his quest to becoming who he has trained for so long to become. The loss of a friend does not help his decision. (as I write this I realise how much of a horoscope reading this sounds like).

Meanwhile, I have been writing a few short stories that are consuming some of my other free time (perhaps the word consume isn’t right, but I like it and it is seldom used). At the end of this week, there will be another short story coming your way – so keep your eyes peeeledd!

Until then, humans!
